Activities: Department of Business Law

2013-2014

This year the activities of the Department has started with the lecture delivered by Dr. Mrs. Shobha Doshi on the topic' Personality Development with reference to Philosophical Dimensions.' The group discussions and debates were also conducted on various topics like, 'Whether CBI should be the Independent Authority?', Education Policy in India', College Elections shall be back or not?
During the Second Term the topics discussed were' Noise Pollution Rules,2000', 'Various Aspects of Consumer Protection Act,1986', 'Role and Importance of Intellectual Property Rights' .
To make aware the students practical aspect of topics covered in the syllabus  Department has organized Consumer Court Visit along with the Dnyansadhana College, Thane.
In collaboration with the Department of Commerce it has organized Intercollegiate Paper Presentation and Role Play Competition on syllabus based topics, on 18th February 2014. This was well-responded by the students. In all 76 students were participated from various Colleges. Total 10 Role Plays and 18 Papers were presented.
The Department and Students' Forum jointly sent 31 students from different courses for' Model Parliament Indian Session' jointly organised by VPM'S Law College Thane and Rotract Club, Thane on 27th January, 2014.The mock Bill named, 'The Juvenile Justice(care and protection) Bill, 2000 was discussed during the session. Affrine Sayyed from S.Y.Bcom. secured prize for the best presentation of the Bill and Rujuta Gavande from SYBA. awarded the best dress prize.
The Head of the Department presented Research Paper in the UGC sponsored International Conference organized by the Department of Economics of the College. She is also a visiting faculty in Ruia College for P.G.Diploma in Analytical Chemistry for Environmental Law, as well as Sommaiya College for Msc. in Environmental science. She has also been invited as a guest speaker on the topic, Laws Related to Environment for Polytechnique  students by VPM'S Polytechnique, Thane. She has also delivered a lecture in 'KHULI  PARYAVARAN SHALA' organized by NGO Enviro Vigil.
Her talk on Environmental laws has also been broadcasted on Aakashvani Mumbai in the program me titled 'PARISAR'.
She has attended the workshop on Revised Syllabus of SYBcom. organized by University of Mumbai and Dynansadhana College, Thane.
