N.C.C. Naval Wing  


 

MAHARASHTRA NCC NAVAL UNIT

    In the academic year 2008-09 N.C.C. Naval unit of our college started its activities with the enrollment of cadets for first, second,third year students.

On 15th August 2008, Chairman of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Dr. Vijay Bedekar gave an oath to all N.C.C. Cadets. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala Singh, Vice Principals Dr. (Ms.) Padmini Murti & Prof. (Mrs.) Leela Bhat & other teaching & office staff were present at the time.

A) National Level Camps

1. Special National Integration Camp

a.)    2nd year Cadet Renuka Biredar participated in special National Integration Camp held at        Panchgani, Maharashtra from 7th May to 16th May 2008, conducted by N.C.C Group Headquarter, Kolhapur.

b)     3rd year P.O.Cadet, Kishor S. Pokharkar represented our college in the Special National Integration Camp held at Jaisalmer, Rajashtan from 3rd Nov to 14th Nov 2008, organized by Directorate General Of N.C.C.

c)     2nd year cadet Abhishek Pawar of our college has been selected for Republic Day Camp to be held at New Delhi, January 2009.

2. All India Trekking Expedition

a)     2nd year leading cadet Samira R. Thombre participated inPunjab Trekking Camp held at Kusari, Shimla from 9th June to 25th June 2008, conducted by N.C.C. Group Headquarters Pune.

b)     1st year Cadet Prashent G. Pawar, Cadet Swapnil S. Lohar & Cadet Darshan D. Keni represented our college in Kerala Trekking Camp held at Kerla from 9th Jan to 22nd Jan 2009, conducted by Kerala & Lakshadweep Directorate.

3. National Integration Camp

a)     2nd year P.O. Cadet Smita A. Patil & P.O. cadet Kundan S. Kamulkar represented our college in the National Integration Camp held at Nashik, Maharashtra from 1st No. to 12th Nov 2008, organized by No. 7 Maharastra Battalion N.C.C., Nashik.

b)     3rd year Leading Cadet Rupesh P. Paway and 1st year cadet Amruta D. Pathari represented our college in the National Integration Camp held at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh from 17th Nov to 28th Nov 2008, conducted by N.C.C. Group Headquarters, Meerut.

B) State Level Camp

1)     Scuba Diving Camp:

             We are proud to say that our 3rd year Cadet Captain Aniket S. Gaikwad represented our college in the Scuba Diving Camp at Navy Nagar, Mumbai from 26th May to 15th Jun 2008.

2)     Annual Training Camp (A.T.C.) :

        SD Cadets & SW Cadets participated in the A.T.C. Group Selection at  Mililtary Station, Wadala, Mumbai. 2nd year cadet Suryakant Patekar & Cadet Renuka Biredar was selected for Pre. Navsainik Camp. Totally 15 cadets partcipated in the Annual Training Camp organized by the 1(Maharashtra) Naval Unit N.C.C. Mumbai from 21st Jul to 30th Jul 2008.

3)     N.C.C. Day Celebration Camp:

             On 23th of November 2008, 60th N.C.C. day was celebrated at the Parade

Ground, Colaba. 6 Cadets from our unit performed a Semaphore in front of honorable chief guest Major General R.K. Hooda.

 Matheran Trek

One day treking was conducted on 9th Aug 2008 from Neral to Matheran, total 32 cadets with N.C.C officer covered total 30 kms in the trek.

a)     9kms from Neral station to Matheran (Bazaar peth 5km to & fro)

b)     Matheran Check post to main market (Bazaar peth, 5km to & fro)

c)     Sight seeing 7kms

            Total 30 kms.

C) Social Service Activities

1. Blood Donation :

        A blood donation programme was jointly organized by N.C.C. (Naval Unit), N.S.S. Unit of Joshi-Bedekar college of Arts & Commerce and J.J. Group of Hospitals. 10 Cadets donated 400cc blood each during the camp as held on 27th August 2008.  

2.     Ganpati Emersion-Traffic Control Duty :

         Our 15 cadets were allotted to control traffic at Jail Lake , &  at A1 shop during the Ganapati Emersion in Thane, on 8th September 2008 & 14th Septamber 2008.

 

3.     Pulse Polio Immunization Programme:

        10 Cadets took part in this pulse polio immunization programme from 9th Nov to 14th Nov 2008 organized by Health Department of Thane Municipal Corporation on 1st Dec. 2008

 

4.     World AIDS Day :

        10 Cadets participated in the World AIDS Day rally on the occasion of World AIDS Day (1st September 2008) organized by Thane Municipal Corporation.

NCC Army Girls


1. Maharashtra Girls BN NCC Army Unit

In the academic year 2008-2009, NCC Army Girls unit started its activities with the enrollment of cadets for first year and re-enrollment of second and third year cadets. Sixty one cadets enrolled for first year. Two cadets as IIIrd year cadets and seventeen cadets as IInd year cadets have been enrolled under extension as per the NCC Rules.

National Integration Camp (NIC)

1)     NIC - Asansol ( West Bengal State )

        IIrd year cadets, JUO Reeta Singh attended National Integration Camp held at Asansol from 27th August, 08 to 7th September 2008. She secured Gold Medal in Mike Camparing among 17 states. She won two silver medals for securing IInd position in National Integration Awareness presentation and other for securing IInd position in Road Show on the topic ‘Save the Girl Child’.

2)     NIC - Chhaka Bhama ( Nagaland State )

        IInd year cadet CSM Kashmira Pardeshi attended Pre NIC Camp held at Jalgaon from 22nd Nov 2008 to 24th Nov 2008. She attended NIC at Chhaka Bhama inNagaland State from 28th November 2008 to 8th December 2008.

        Adventure Activities

1)     IIIrd year cadets SUO Kiran Thorat and JUO Sanchita Gaikar attended Rock climbing Training Camp which was held at Kerala.

2)     Trekking Camp - CPL Chetna Bhaud attended the camp held at Ooty.

Summer Camp

CPL Seema Surve attended the summer Camp held at Panchgani from 6th May 2008 to 16th May 2008.

Army Attachment Camp

Cadet Krupa Patil and cadet Priyanka Brahmane went to Ahmednagar to attend Army attachment Camp from 18th August to 30th August 2008.

Group Training Camps - I, II, III

cadets from our college selected for the group training camp I which was held at Wadala.

cadets were selected for Group Training Camp II which was held from 1st October to 10th October at Wadala.

Hospital Attachment Camp

IInd year cadet Prajakta Bhagat was selected for Hospital Attachment Camp held at Deolali from 4th November 2008 to 13th November 2008.

Annual Training Camp

1)     12 cadets participated in the Annual Training Camp held at JNPT Uran from 26th Feb 2008 to 3rd March 2008.

2)     12 cadets participated in the Annual Training Camp held at Birla College , Kalyan from 8th May 2008 to 15th May 2008.

3)     15 cadets attended ATC II held at Somaiya College , Vidyavihar from 21st May 2008 to 30th May 2008. HCPL Shaila Mhetre was selected for shooting camp in Reserve Category.

OTA Gwalior Camp

 Cadet Meeta Bukane was selected in Reserve category for OTA Gwalior Camp.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Pulse Polio Programme

1)     16 cadets participated in the Pulse Polio programme on 10th Feb 08 to 15th Feb. 08. Our many cadets participated in the Pulse Polio Abhiyan whenever conducted  at Thane District Level.

2)     Tree Plantation Abhiyan - 30 cadets of our unit participated in Hariyalis Tree Plantation Abhiyan on the forest land at village Bhavale Lonad, Tal. Bhiwandi, Dist. Thane along with the members of Hariyali.

Trekking Expedition

Our unit organised Trekking Expectation from Neral to Matheran with the co-ordination of NCC unit on 9th August, 2008. Thirty Five Cadets participated in the Trekking Activity.

Yoga

Our unit organised official certificate course of 10 days duration from 6th August to 1st Sept. 2008 for our girl cadets.

15th August celebration - sixty cadets of Maharashtra BN, NCC participated to the celebration of 15th August.

Participation in Mansoon Ryla 2008

Three IInd year cadets participated in the programme 'Uptown Monsoon Ryla-2008' organised by Rotary Club of Thane uptown.

Guest Lectures

1)     Our unit had organised a Guest lecture of Prof. Bhavna Powar on the topic ‘Importance of Diet’ for our cadets on 24th October 2008.

2)     Our unit also organised a guest lecture of Major Gawand on the topic - ‘Career Guidance for the position in Army, Navy and Air force’ with the co-ordination of Inner Wheel Club of Thane.

AIDS RALLY

Our 16 cadets participated in the AIDS Awareness Rally which was organised at District Level on 1st December, 2008 by Civil Hospital , Thane.

Solidarity Meet

Forty two cadets of our unit participated in the Solidarity Meet - Youth against Terrorism which was organised on 20th December, 2008 at Shivaji Park , Dadar.

Annual Training Camp

Twenty five cadets of our unit participated in the special Annual Training Camp held from 7th Jan 2009 to 13th Jan 2009.

NCC Exam Results

Our percentage of successful cadets at the ‘C’ certificate Examination was 100%. The successful percentage of ‘B’ certificate Examination was 90%.

Administrative Aspects

Our NCC unit achieved its target of enrolment in July 2008 at  the beginning of this academic year. Vinayak Thombare took charge as senior under-officer. Paresh Mahadik represented NCC in the students council.

Training

v      In addition to training parades every week, cadets actively participated in various camps and training activities.

v      48 cadets received training at Battalion Level Annual Training camps held in September and October 2008.

v      Our NCC Officer Capt. Moses Kolet performed duties as Camp Adjutant during the Annual Training Camp at Mumbai.

v      Four cadets participated in Thal Sainik Camp at Nasik in July 2008.

v      Three cadets took part in NCC Group Level Camps in Mumbai.

v      One cadet participated in the Republic Day Special Practice Camp and Maharashtra State Level NCC Day Camp at Mumbai in November 2008.

v      Five cadets  received specialized training at NCC group level training camps at Mumbai and State level camps at Pune.

v      Five cadets will stay and work with regular units of the Indian Army as a part of Army attachment Camp at Nagpur in January 2009.

Competitions

O     Our Senior Under-Officer Vinayak Thombare was selected to take part in MaharashtraState level rifle shooting camp.

O         Junior Under-Officer Akash Dalvi represented our college and NCC Camp
