Guest Lectures

  1. 17/06/2010 :
    The inaugural programme of Geography Department took place on Thursday, June 17th  2010. A Guest lecture was organized on
    “ Environment Everyday”. The speaker was Prof. V.A. Walavalkar, a senior grade lecturer in Chemistry Department from VPM’S Polytechnic. He enlightened our students about how to take care of environment in day to day life. All TYBA Geography students attended the programme. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala A. Singh was chairperson of the programme.

  2. The Department of Geography had organized a guest lecture on ‘Urban Development : Elements and applications of Remote Sensing and GIS’ on Monday, 26th July 2010 by Dr. Vivek Patkar ex-operations Research Specialist , MMRDA.
    He enlightened the students about the Urban Dicotomy, its development and process and the role of modern technology such as Remote Sensing and GIS in planning of urban areas.
    The programme was well – appreciated by the principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala A. Singh, Vice-Principal Dr. Padmini Murti and students

     

  3. On 9th August 2010 a guest lecture was organized by Department of Geography entitled “Geography is a Practical Subject”. The speaker was Ex. Head of the Department Prof. P.G. Shinde. He enlightened the students about the simple and systematic use of geography in our day-to-day life.

  4. On 7th September 2010 orientation and awareness programme on Geographical Information System was organized. The speaker was Mr. Pritam Karvir, Business Executive, Gynesis Ltd. He explained the concept of GIS and upcoming carrier opportunities in GIS to our students.

Other Activities

  1. On 23rd June 10, Wednesday Library orientation programme was organized for T.Y.B.A. Geography to make the students aware about various books, magazines, Atlases, OPAC etc.

  2. 10th July 10 and 26th June 10 : Parents teachers meeting was arranged by the Department of Geography. The number of student being large the meeting was scheduled on two different days. The first meeting was held on 26th June. The other is organized on 10th July. The main aim of parent teachers meet was to inform parents about the activities carried on by the Georgraphy Department through out the year, for the improvement of students in academics and other fields.

  • Plant identification in VPM’s College campus. [PHOTOS]

  • Collection of News paper articles related to subject of geography and environment.

  • Five TYBA geography students taking training related to Air pollution and Water pollution in Thane Muncipal Corporation.
