Guest lecture:
- Prof V.S.Phadke, Ex-Head, Department of Geography, University Of Mumbai, delivered lecture on “Various Aspects of Climatology” to TYBA students .
- Prof Kirti Agashe from VPM’s Polytechnic college delivered a lecture on Use of weather Instruments and collection of weather data.
- A workshop-cum lecture by counseling Cell on study skills was organized for TYBA students.
Field visit
- On 9th August 2011 filed visit to VPMS’s campus organized to observe floral diversity and mangrove ecosystem in the campus.
- On 27th August 2011 field visit Bhagirath Waterfall (Wangani) was organized. Various geographical landforms like “V” Shape valley, conical hill, rapids, waterfall, forms of weathering, biodiversity and other cultural aspects were observed by students.
- On First week September 2011 field trip to Mumbra Devi for FYBA students was oraganized.
- On 5th December 2011 field trip to south Mumbai and Elephata island was organized for FYBA and TYBA students.
- On 4th January 2012 second year and third year students taken to rock, minerals and fossils exhibition at university of Mumbai, fort organized by
- Nature trek were organized to Peth fort,Mahuli Fort and Kothligad fort for TYBA students.
Other activities:
- Intra College Exhibition:
- on 1st February 2012 the department organized as exhibition-cum-workshop. The exhibition was inaugurated by principal Dr.(Mrs.) S.A.Singh.
- As part of exhibition quiz competition was organized for students and teachers.
- Students of FYBCOM presented PPTS’s on topics such as sex tourism, Bio- diversity, disaster management, rainwater harvesting, mangroves, solar plant etc. models were prepared on GMO, Water pollution and Water conservation etc.
- Parents meetings were conducted for TYBA Students to make parents understand the different activities conducted by the department and college.
- Prof Aparna Phadke and Prof Vaishali Kurhekar also involved in functional English coaching.
Achievements:
- Our student Shamplin Nadar awarded Gold medal for securing first rank in University of Mumbai in Geography .She also stood first in the college with 74.67%.
- TYBA students Manasvini Vishvasrao and Amol Dadas bagged the second prize in the inter-collegiate quiz competition organized by Ruparel College, Mumbai.
