2013-2014

  • Guest lecture
  •    Guest lecture on Waste Management and Role of Youths by Anjana Devasthali was organized on in association with Nature Club. The concept of Magic Bucket (wormy compost) was practically introduced to the students with the demonstration.

  • Nature Treks and Field Visits:

 

  •   On 7th July 2013 a field visit to Neral was organized by the department to study various concepts and aspects of Physical Geography.
  •   On 14th July 2013 adventure trek to Kalavantin fort was organized. To make students more sensitize about tribal life and their dependence on environment.  Tree plantation programme was also conducted on the same day.
  •   A field visit to Kondane Caves was organized by the department under the guidance of Prof. Shivaji Naik and Asst Prof. Pradnya Nikam on 21st July 2013 to make students aware about the rich historical heritage of India.
  •   A field visit to Flamingo watch at Shivadi, Mumbai was conducted by Asst Prof. Shivaji Naik in collaboration with Nature Club.
  •    A field visit to Bhandardara Dam, Sandhan Vally, Ratanwadi was organized for TYBA geography students on 7th February 2014 under the guidance of Asst Prof. Archana Doifode and Asst. Prof. Shivaji Niak. 
  • Research Projects by Students:

In the academic year 2013-2014 the students of TYBA Geography semester V has completed Research Projects as a part of their syllabus. Following are the research problems studied by our students.

  • मान्सून - आदीवासि जीवन पद्धती.
  • Socio economic Survey

On 28th September 2013  the students of TYBA class has conducted Socio-economic survey of Surai Village, in Bivandi tahasil. Through Questioner (Interview) and observation techniques they collected data of 74 houses. Tabulation, analysis and representation of the collected data was done by the students under the guidance of teachers in the department.
Other activities

  •  “EARTH-THE HOME” documentary was screened by the department for all students in association with Nature Club of our college. It was environment based documentary.
  • “Story of the Stuff” was screened by the department in all the FYBCom classes. The documentary explores the logic of current models of economic development that is environmentally unjust.
  • “Road to Shanghai” is another documentary screened by the department to the SYBA class. This documentary was related problems of Indian urbanization.
  • Achievements
  • Our students of SYBA class Snehal Sawant and Shruti Gogate participated in SNIP N STICK handbook making competition organized by Jhunjhunwala College Ghatkopar and won IInd and IIIrd ranks respectively. They are guided by Asst. Prof. Aparna Phadke
  • Sudam Ahirrow and Rujuta Govande participated in Power Point Presentation competition organized by CKT College Panvel.
