Year - 2009-2010

 

  • A film was screened on ‘Western Philosophy’ for the T.Y.B.A students. The film was initiated by Prof. Vivek Pachpande. Everyone enjoyed the movie to a great extent on 18th August 2009, Tuesday.
  • An audio lecture was conducted by Smt. Sulbha Rane on ‘Yoga Philosophy’ for the students of T.Y.B.A on 12th September 2009, Saturday.
  • Prof.Mrs.Suchitra A.naik was called as a resource person by Agarwal College to contribute in the National Seminar.(Held by N.S.S. unit). The theme of her speech was ‘वंचित मुलांच्या मनोविश्वासाचा मागोवा’. The seminar was held on 7th February 2009, Saturday.
  • Presentation was conducted on ‘Stress management’ for Junior College Teachers of our college on 5th September 2009, Saturday By the counsellor Prof.Mrs.Suchitra A.Naik. The lecture was highly appreciated.
  • Workshop was conducted for INT Cultural group students by Prof.Mrs. Suchitra A. Naik, held on 15th September 2009, Tuesday.
  • N.S.S. Unit of Agarwal College had invited Prof. Mrs. Suchitra A.Naik for career counselling to BA and B.Com students on 12th October 2009, Monday.
  • Prof. Mrs. Suchitra A.Naik had organised N.S.S. Camp at ‘Mamnoli’ for Personality Development of N.S.S. students on 28th October 2009, Wednesday.
  • Prof. Mrs. Suchitra A.Naik had conducted presentation on ‘Parenting: Challenges and Opportunities’ on 20th November 2009, Friday. The lecture was highly appreciated by everyone.
  • Prof. Mrs. Suchitra A.Naik had conducted ‘ Relaxation Session’ for S.Y.B.A. students of our college on 2nd January 2010, Friday.
  • Seminar was conducted by Prof. Mrs. Suchitra A.Naik for N.S.S students of our college and the theme of the seminar was ‘ N.S.S Career Counselling’ held on 26th February 2010, Friday.
  • Meditation Session was held by Prof. Mrs. Suchitra A.Naik in our college on 6th January 2010, Tuesday.
  • Workshop was held by Prof. Mrs. Suchitra  A.Naik for T.Y.B.A. students on ‘ Geography and Exam Stress Management’ on 2nd April 2010, Friday.

The 2nd preparatory workshop of the International Seminar on ‘Mind, Brain and Consciousness’ to be conducted by The Research Institute of the Philosophy Department of K.G. Joshi & N. G. Bedekar College of Arts & Commerce, will be held on 27th November 2009, from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

Brief Report :

The 2nd  preparatory workshop of the International Seminar on ‘Mind, Brain and Consciousness was held on 27th November (from 9.00 a.m. to 2 p.m.) by the Research Institute of the Philosophy Department of our College. Workshop began with a prayer and the felicitation of dignitaries by Dr. (Mrs.) S.A. Singh.

The guest speakers delivered lectures on the various themes. The details of the lectures are as follows.

Dr. Ajai R. Singh delivered a lecture on “Brain, Meditation and Creativity”

Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala A. Singh delivered a lecture on “Philosophy of Body and Mind (from traditional Western point of view)”.

Each session was followed by brain storming question answer and discussion.
The abstract containing abstracts of papers presented during the first and the second workshop, and papers to be presented in the main seminar, was released at the hands of Dr. Ajai Singh Co-sponsor of the seminar. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala Singh, co –Ordinator Prof. Mrs. S.A. Naik were present for the released of the abstract.   

Following Papers were presented in the second session of the workshop by scholars.

  1. Dr. Avinash De Sousa read a paper on “Freudian Theory and Consciousness”.
  2. Dr.Neeta Mehta read a paper on “Mind-Body Dualism: A Critique from a Health Perspective”.
  3. Prof. Manoj R Patharkar presented a paper on“An Interdisciplinary approach to Mind”.
  4. Mr. Salman Chalikkara presented a paper on “Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP): A Gate Way To The Mind”.
  5. Mr. Syam K.R read a paper on “Efficacy of various Psychotherapies in altering Brain and Consciousness”.
  6. Mr. Thomas M.V presented a paper on “What is mind? : A neuropsychological perspective”.
  7. Mr. Bhausaheb Biradar presented a paper on “Two Approaches to Test Cognitive Linguistics as a Tool to Study Mind”.

All the papers were very well received by the audience.
The workshop was conducted by Ms. Chhaya Kore. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Moonam Yadav. The workshop ended with Pasaydan.

The 1st preparatory Workshop of the International Seminar on ‘Mind, Brain and Consciousness was held on 31st October (from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) by the Research Institute of the Philosophy Department of our College.

Workshop began with the felicitation of dignitaries and introductory speech by Dr. (Mrs.) S.A. Singh.

Dr. Godabarish Mishra spoke on “Is and Am. How Matters in a Material World?”

Dr. Ajai R. Singh delivered a lecture on “A Primer of the Human Brain: Structure and Function.”

Shri Vijayanand Dhole talked about Consciousness from the point of view of Osho.

Brainstorming question answer and discussion followed each session.

Papers were presented in the concluding session of the workshop. Dr. Khalkar read a paper, ‘Concept of Citta in Patanjala Yoga’. Prof Vivek Pachpande presented a paper, ‘The Myth of Consciousness’. Both were well received by the audience.

The workshop was compered by Prof. (Mrs.) S.A. Naik. Ms. Chhaya Kore proposed vote of thanks...........................................................................

On behalf of the Research Institute of the Philosophy Department, the second talk in the lecture series preceding the International seminar on ‘Mind, Brain and Consciousness’ was held on 18th September, 2009.
Swami Nikhileswaranand was the main speaker and the session was chaired by  Dr. Uma Shankar, Prof. of Philosophy, SIES College, Mumbai University. An introductory speech was delivered by Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala Singh. Swami Nikhileswaranand gave an inspiring and enlightening speech which was followed by question answer session and the concluding remarks by the Chairperson, Dr. Uma Shankar.
Dr. A.R. Singh, Editor of Mens Sana Monograph and Co-sponsor of the International seminar attended the lecture.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Vivek Paachpande

Prof. (Dr.)S.E. Bhelkey Head of the Department of Philosophy University of Pune, delivered the lecture on the topic of "Concept of Mind and Consciousness in Indian Philosophy"

Prof. (Mrs.) Bakul Joshi, Professor and Head Department of Philosophy, Bhavans College, was invited to be the Chairperson of the lecture.

Dr. A. R. Singh , Editor of Mens Sana Monograph and Co-sponsor of the International Seminar was invited for the lecture.
