India to thwart any pressure on emission norms

In Gleneagles(Scotland) PM Manmohan Singh has said that the issues before the G8 were very important not only for the developed world but also for the developing world.

He also indicated that India was not likely to budge from its firm position that the rich west must help pay for the developing world to move to clear,eco-friendly,renewable energy sources.
India would remain steadfast in discussion with the G8 leaders & would resist any attempt to

Bludgeon it into acceptance of emission standards in line with Kyoto protocol, which enjoins the rich countries to curb greenhouse gas emissions by 2012.
India would remain firm on the principles that the West needed to help pay for cleaner power stations for countries like India, for high- tech transfer of green technology without Intellectual Property Rights restrictions.
