The 2nd preparatory workshop of the International Seminar on ‘Mind, Brain and Consciousness was held on 27th November (from 9.00 a.m. to 2 p.m.) by the Research Institute of the Philosophy Department of our College. Workshop began with a prayer and the felicitation of dignitaries by Dr. (Mrs.) S.A. Singh.
The guest speakers delivered lectures on the various themes. The details of the lectures are as follows.
Dr. Ajai R. Singh delivered a lecture on “Brain, Meditation and Creativity”
Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala A. Singh delivered a lecture on “Philosophy of Body and Mind (from traditional Western point of view)”.
Each session was followed by brain storming question answer and discussion.
The abstract containing abstracts of papers presented during the first and the second workshop, and papers to be presented in the main seminar, was released at the hands of Dr. Ajai Singh Co-sponsor of the seminar. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shakuntala Singh, co –Ordinator Prof. Mrs. S.A. Naik were present for the released of the abstract.
Following Papers were presented in the second session of the workshop by scholars.
- Dr. Avinash De Sousa read a paper on “Freudian Theory and Consciousness”.
- Dr.Neeta Mehta read a paper on “Mind-Body Dualism: A Critique from a Health Perspective”.
- Prof. Manoj R Patharkar presented a paper on“An Interdisciplinary approach to Mind”.
- Mr. Salman Chalikkara presented a paper on “Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP): A Gate Way To The Mind”.
- Mr. Syam K.R read a paper on “Efficacy of various Psychotherapies in altering Brain and Consciousness”.
- Mr. Thomas M.V presented a paper on “What is mind? : A neuropsychological perspective”.
- Mr. Bhausaheb Biradar presented a paper on “Two Approaches to Test Cognitive Linguistics as a Tool to Study Mind”.
All the papers were very well received by the audience.
The workshop was conducted by Ms. Chhaya Kore. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Moonam Yadav. The workshop ended with Pasaydan.
