Gandharva | Activities

Gandharva, an Inter-Collegiate Cultural Festival of our College was organized by Talent Academy. In last 5 years, numbers of colleges participation had reached form 58 to 107. Every year Gandharva have different subject.

About Gandharva’17

An intercollegiate mega-cultural event ‘Gandharva’ celebrated its 10th birthday in this year. The theme of Gandharva 17 was ‘Nostalgia-An album of memories’. This intercollegiate festival held on 20th and 21st January, 2017. 42 competitions from different areas were conducted during the Mahotsav.

For making Gandharva 17 successful, around 210 students volunteers, Talent Academy Committee Teachers, and supporting staff were tirelessly working for 3-4 months.Tremendous response was received from many colleges from different parts ,i.e., Mumbai, suburban areas, Raigad, Ratnagiri,Palghar etc. This year 101 colleges participated in the wave of Nostalgia.

The main aim of Gandharva 17 was to provide an opportunity to the students and to explore the hidden talents through nurturing different skills them. Gandharva 17 was successful to achieve its desired target through well planned Events, timely Management,and Creative Concepts in the competitions, innovative ways, enthusiasm among the organisers and the most important factor – Complete support and guidance from Our Honourable Principal Dr. Shakuntala A. Singh Madam.

On 20th January, 2017 Gandharva 17 was inaugurated through a novel idea. According to the theme of Nostalgia, the Gandharva Students Heads of Last 9 years were invited and felicitated from the hands of our honorable Principal Madam.

In the Nostalgic environment on 21st January, Past Gandharva Chairpersons shared their nostalgic memories in Making of Gandharva. It was a wonderful experience for the audience.

The Mahotsava featured various competitions for the students, teacher’s alumni and the theme was very well depicted through installations exhibited in the campus, Events, Names of the competitions.

Various sports events like Live Snake and Ladder, Tic Tactoe, Box Cricket were conducted with maximum participation. Different fine Art Events like Rangoli, Mehendi, and Photoframe making, Matka Painting were held with great enthusiasm. In Literary events communathon, short poetry, capture a story were appreciated by participants. In performing Art, Classical Solo Dance, Group Dance, StreePlay, Teachers Singing, Teachers Cooking Beat Box,and Personality Contest were held with huge response and maximum participation.

All these events were judged by the experts from respective fields. Cash prize of Rs. 2017/- and Champions Rolling Trophy and Best Contingent Leader was awarded to Podar College, Mumbai.




Navrang | Activities

This year Navarang festival started from 15th Dec. with celebration of different days like 'Black & Red day', 'Mask Day', 'Jersey Day' and concluded on 24th Dec. with the Annual Prize Distribution.

Student's participation in various competitions of Navrang was note worthy Inspiration and guidance of respected Prins. Dr. Mrs. Shakuntala A. Singh made it possible to successfully organize the competitions. The Navrang festival was inaugurated on 21th f Dec. by Prin. Dr. Mrs. B. A. Singh & Mr. P. P. Morey by garlanding the statue of late Dr. V. N. Bedekar. During Navarang novel competitions like Quilling, Live X & O, Balloon race were conducted with enthusiastic response from the students. Along with these our usual competitions like Mehandi, Nail art, Hairstyle, Poster making, Sudoku, Quiz, Personality, Dance, Music contest were conducted. This year Rolling trophy was won by SYJC Commerce Class.

The Navrang festival concluded with the Annual prize distribution on 24th Dec. This year commissioner of Navi Mumbai Mahanagar Palika, Shri Tukaram Munde (I.A.S.) graced the occasion as the chief guest.




Chrysalis | Activities

‘Chrysalis’ is the annual management event of the students, for the students, by the students, conducted by the Department of Self Financing Courses. This year the event was held on 27th and 28th January 2017. The theme this year was –‘Intellection- thinking out of the box’. The event managed by 300 student volunteers under the leadership of President Punit Gadri, Vice President Shradha Khot, and Secretary Deepika Ghag saw a registration of 40 colleges. The student’s leaders were assisted by seven student general managers and guided by the teachers of the department. The inaugural day- 27th January had Mr. Nitin Desai , renowned Art Director as the Chief Guest. The release of ‘Rta’, the annual newspaper by the students of the BMM was honored at the hands of Mr. Rajeev Khandekar, Executive Editor,ABP Maaj, on 28th January. Chrysalis calendar was also released the same day. A Panel Discussion of eminent people from various fields who had thought out of the box and ventured on to less traveled roads was held on day one. The panelist gave their respective success mantras to the students. A session on Sales and Techniques were held by Dr Bedi on day two. Apart from this the two days witnessed a host of management events and games like Corporate Dazzlers, Turn Coat, App Challenge, Media and Short Films, Vyaapaar etc to name a few where the students battled out in the field with the management,communiation, marketing and finance skills acquired in the classrooms. Our college, K.G. Joshi College of Arts and N.G. Bedekar College of Commerce, won the Chrysalis Rolling Trophy by bagging maximum prizes.
