Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM), Thane a pioneer and renowned educational institution in Maharashtra established in 1935, has been imparting quality education to over 15,000 students through Marathi and English medium schools located in Naupada and the colleges situated near Thane Railway Station.
About College
K. G. Joshi & N. G. Bedekar College of Arts & Commerce was the first institution of higher learning to be established in Thane City in 1969. The college received permanent affiliation in January, 1988 with effect from June 1982. It was awarded B++ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2004 and re-accredited with A grade in 2011. The college has received Best College Award in the academic year 2012-13. The college has also been selected for Community college. The college has offered several courses and specializations at undergraduate level catering students not only from Thane City but also from the peripheral areas in the vicinity.
DEPARTMENT OF eCONOMICS
The Department of Economics was established in June 1969. The department is constantly organizing students’ study visits,remedial teaching, expert lecture series and also organizes economic events like Cartooning & Poster Making, Essay Competition etc., as a part of ongoing economic festival to enhance subject knowledge of the students.
