NCC Summer Annual Training Camp at Thane

         1st Maharashtra Battalion NCC will be carrying out  its Summer Annual Training Camp ATC from 24th May to 4th June 2004 in the Vidya Prasarak Mandal's Thane College Campus popularly known as Jnanadweepa.  Keeping with its long tradition of cordial relation with NCC and defence services,  the  Vidya Prasarak Mandal   Thane has generously extended its cooperation by offering their college premises and infrastructure for organizing this camp.   300 NCC cadets from Junior Division and Senior  Division  form various schools and colleges spread form Mumbai to Kalyan will be participating in this camp. 

        Apart from basic military training the curriculum also includes civil defence and firefighting.  Lt. Col. R. Chatterjee,  Camp Commandant says, the objectives of this camp would be to instill in the cadets traits like: 

1. Leadership qualities

2. Personality Development

3. Team Spirit

4. Spirit of Adventure

5. Social and community service

6. Inculcate sense of discipline to make them better citizens

7. Motivate youth to join defence services

     The camp programme also includes plans to invite eminent personalities from various walks of life to share their experiences and interact with cadets. 

      Participants would also be interacting with local NGOs and carrying out social service in and around Thane City says Dr. Camp.  Commandant Kan. Atrey.
