Since its beginning AIER has been trying to provide international exposure to Indian teachers, students and parents. In this context it has been arranging educational tours to United Kingdom and Singapore.
VPM initiated a scheme of educational tours of Indian teachers to UK since 2004. After conducting a few educational tours for teachers successfully VPM started conducting special tours for Indian students since 2007. AIER, after its formal establishment, took over both these activities and involved parents along with teachers and students in the tour. The participants chosen for the tour are given academic inputs acquainting them with the places of visit in Oxford, Cambridge and London. These tours have a perfect blend of academic as well as social interactions. So far more than 100 practicing teachers, more than 90 school/ college students and 40 parents have been benefited by this scheme. This activity of AIER has become quite popular and there is good response from teachers, students and parents from different parts of India to join it. It has, therefore, become an annual activity of AIER. For convenience these tours are conducted in summer vacations preferably in the month of May. After every visit Dr. Sudhakar Agarkar, Dean AIER has been writing articles in Disha describing the experiences gained at different places of visits in UK. VPM has brought out the compilation of these articles in the form of book in Marathi entitled “Educational Tour of Oxford and Cambridge”.
In addition to taking teachers to UK, AIER initiated conducting educational tours to Singapore. On the request of the Vidya Pratishthan at Baramati (Dist. Pune, Maharashtra State) it has successfully conducted an educational tour for school principals in April 2015. Like the UK tour, the Singapore tour also has a blend of academic as well as social interactions. These tour are becoming popular and AIER has been receiving requests for arranging similar tours from different educational organizations.
