VPM Quality Education and Skill Development Programmes

Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane (VPM), is a pioneer Educational Public Trust in Thane city, since 1935. It enthusiastically and zealously caters to the basic needs of education of nearly 15000 students through its Marathi and English Medium Schools and through its Arts, Commerce, Science, Law colleges, Polytechnic, Institute Management Studies and the Advanced Study Centre. VPM has recently started the Engineering College in Velneshwar, in Konkan area.

To keep abreast with modern development, VPM keenly incorporates all the necessary changes like computerization and quality awareness in its institute along with emphasis on close interaction with industry. Our entire college campus is interconnected with Fibre Optic Network and having 24 hours access to Internet via Leased Line. Majority of our Seminar Halls are WI-Fi enabled. We have also developed our own website www.vpmthane.org, which one can access from anywhere in the world.

In order to create interaction between industry and educational institution and to gather and exchange the knowledge on latest technology, VPM has been conducting Workshops, Conferences and seminars under the auspices. This helps in providing additional knowledge to the students and community at large.

To keep students up-to-date of modern trends & technologies coupled with market requirements, VPM has subscribed towards various National and International Newspapers, Journals, Magazines, Bulletins etc. having Print as well as Online access (to name a few: Asian Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Scientific American, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Current Sciences, The Smart Manager, Down to Earth, New Scientist, The Economist, Nature, National Geographic, F.E.E. Review, Indian Literature, Journal of British Society for of Sciences, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of South Asian Studies, Journal of Indo- European Studies, History Today, The Art Newspaper, Asian Art Newspaper, Fortune, The Lancet, Social Scientist, etc.) We are also the subscribers of online national and international Databases ie. Online Admission System:

We are proud to say that VPM is the unique Institution in Maharashtra State to successfully start Online Admission system for our colleges. VPM has also started Online Transaction System by way of credit/ Debit card through our website www.vpmthane.org, ie. Acceptance of school/ college fees, sale of seminar proceedings/ publications etc.

Weather Station in the campus:

VPM has established an automated Weather Station in our college campus having access/ connectivity with Pune Weather Station. Also it has been proposed to start a pilot project on Enery Generation.

Film Society:

To take the movement of Film Society to college youngsters who can shape the Cinema in future, VPM had decided to promote the activities of Film Society for the benefit of students and staff and started a “VPM’s Joshi- Bedekar College Film Society” in the college campus. As a part of this activity we organize screenings of film with programme note, discussion on film screened and organize films appreciation lectures of eminent film directors and scholars in the field.

Convocation:

VPM organizes Convocation Ceremony on the Occasions of Teachers Day ie. 5thSeptember. On this day the successful candidates of our autonomous programmes are awarded with their Degree certificate at the hand of eminent persons.

Providing Safety & Security:

More than 12,000 students and more than 700 staff members are moving in around the college campus for the cause of education. Considering the safety and security need of students, staff and society in general, VPM, has fixed the security codes for the entry. And the smart card is issued for the entry in the campus.

Considering the opportunities of extending educational and allied activities overseas VPM took over a private limited Company “VPM’s London Academy of Education and Research”, London, incorporated in the United Kingdom.

The Management has further diversified its educational activities in the rural areas and has identified a rural location for new Educational Project at Velneshwar near Chiplun in the Konkan region and has started new Engineering College.
