About the Research Scholar's Program
VPM’s B.N.Bandodkar college of science has initiated to carry out Research Scholar Programme for the undergraduate students from the year 2014 under the guidance and encouragement of our Principal Dr. (Mrs.) M. K. Pejaver. It’s a joint venture of Science Square Committee and Research Committee of the college. Syllabus of this diploma Course has been sanctioned by College Development Committee i.e. CDC in July 2018.
The course aims at –
- Overall personality development of the students.
- Introduction of scientific research to the students in simple and exciting manner.
- Inculcation of a spirit of enquiry and curiosity.
- Imbibitions of essential qualities in the students such as time-management, team-work, social skills, soft skills, computer skills, event management, yoga, etc.
The students who have completed F.Y.B.Sc. in any science subjects can enroll for the said course after an entrance test. Entrance test is based on syllabi of 12th Science and F.Y.B.Sc. Duration of Research Scholar Programme is 24 months. During this period students complete one mini-research project which is grouped into two categories.
- Individual Research - Individual student carrying out a project
- Group research - 2-4 students working on the same project
The students will select the topic of their own choice and will be guided by professors in completing the projects within the stipulated time. Apart from Mini Research Project, students also complete various modules which are based on research methodology, communication skills, presentation skills and environmental aspects.
The assessment of the Research Scholar Programme will be in the form of the presentation of the research outcome, where the students will present their work to a panel of judge/s. The research work if done successfully can be further published in the JBNB journal of our own college. Also they have to appear for exam based on each module they had completed during the course and finally will be awarded with the certificate of Diploma Course on national Science Day (28th February).
We wish that the students come out of this program with flying colours and with a positive outlook towards not only research but any challenge they may face.
